If you were out in Nashville, Brentwood, Arrington or Antioch between Oct. 30 and Nov. 3, check the list. The Metro Public Health Department confirmed the city's second measles case of 2026, a person who was not vaccinated and had a history of international travel.
If you were at one of them during those hours, watch for a rash, fever, cough and red, watery eyes. Symptoms often show up seven to 14 days after contact, according to the CDC. Think you're sick? Call your health care provider before you go to a clinic or ER. Nashville health officials aren't counting a child treated at Vanderbilt who is from outside Tennessee.
- Tennessee: 9 confirmed cases in 2026 as of Oct. 17
- U.S.: more than 4,800 cases as of Oct. 29
- MMR shots: Metro clinics, Monday through Friday, appointments recommended
- Walk-ins: accepted until 2:30 p.m., as availability allows
- East Nashville clinic: 1015 East Trinity Lane, 615-862-7916
If you haven't been vaccinated, talk with your doctor about the MMR shot. Two doses are about 97% effective against measles, and one dose is about 93%, according to the CDC.
