CRIME NEWS

  • The Hendersonville Police arrested Patrick Michael Ehringer on June 23rd after anonymous mass shooting threats were sent to Wal-Mart at 204 N. Anderson Ln—his threats were linked to a failed relationship, and he has been charged with False Reports with a court date set for July 9 and a bond of $200,000.  Sumner County Source

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee gas prices hit $2.85 per gallon—a 15-cent rise from last week—as tensions in the Middle East push oil prices up, though prices remain 15 cents below what they were this time last year.  Hendersonville Standard

  • Nautical Boat Club will offer members premium boat access on five local lakes to enjoy safe summer outings including plans for July 4. Members can reserve boats online — cutting the work of boat ownership — while following boating safety tips for a fun water experience.  Sumner County Source
  • UT Horticulture Extension Agent Lucas Holman said gardeners in Hendersonville can still plant vegetables this summer for a fall harvest even though spring brought 33 inches of rain—above the average 26 inches. He explained that summer squash will produce fruit in 45 days, bush beans in 55 days and sweet corn in 60 to 70 days if planted at the right time.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chase Burns made his MLB debut for the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday against the New York Yankees. The Sumner County native pitched five innings, struck out eight batters and was promoted from Triple-A weeks earlier.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Beech senior running back Chelton Swafford committed to ETSU football Tuesday—he was named Sumner County Offensive Player of the Year after strong performances, including a 216-yard game against Hendersonville. He averaged nearly 8 yards per carry in 13 games and chose ETSU over offers from other schools.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Full Count Rhythm won all five games this week and extended its winning streak to six after a three-game losing stretch. The team showed strong offense and pitching in matchups including a home game at Drakes Creek Park (June 23) and will start a four-game series against Fulton, Henderson, Hoptown and Madisonville.  Hendersonville Standard
