- ➤ At Hendersonville’s Pig Fest held this past weekend, organizers raised $74,000 for charities through increased sponsorships, up from $58,000 last year (a $16,000 boost). They plan to raise $100,000 next year. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Community groups including the NAACP, Crossroads Church, YMCA, and League of Women Voters joined forces to support Feed Sumner on a festive weekend as Hendersonville Firefighters Association Local 3460 donated over $3,000 and led a food drive — sparking local holiday spirit. - ➤ Bosco, an 8-year-old Bluetick Coonhound/Labrador mix weighing 80 lbs, and Toby, a 3-year-old domestic short hair, are now available for adoption at Safe Place for Animals in Hendersonville (fees are $250 and $125, respectively). Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TWRA is accepting applications for the 2026 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts from Dec. 17 until Jan. 7 (11:59 p.m. CST) by online, mobile app, or at TWRA offices; the season runs Apr. 11-May 24, and hunters with Annual, Lifetime, or Senior Sportsman Licenses are fee exempt. Sumner County Source
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Hendersonville Public Library added a blood pressure kiosk and ten cuffs that patrons can borrow for three weeks. Available on the second floor, the service launched in November through the American Heart Association and Dollar General, making it the first blood pressure resource in Sumner County. - ➤ A Sumner County mother recounted how gaps in mental health care left her daughter without proper treatment and support, causing job loss, housing loss and homelessness+ she urged local agencies to offer more shelter and consistent care for those in crisis. NewsChannel 5
