COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jim Demos, founder of Demos’ Restaurant that has served locals since 1943, died Wednesday, Dec. 10 — his legacy built with wife Doris lives on in the three local restaurant locations. Supporters are invited to post memories on the restaurant’s Facebook page to honor his contributions.  Sumner County Source
  • A festive Christmas tree lighting event in Memorial Park on Sunday, Dec. 7 brought together local families who enjoyed music, dance, and food trucks. A new bench was dedicated to honor HolidayFest founder Lynda Evjen (whose efforts supported local nonprofits) as the community celebrated the holiday spirit.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hendersonville local businesses including The Goddard School-Hendersonville, All About Art Gallery & Custom Framing, and New Beginnings Furniture TN donated to the Santa Cop program today as part of a holiday tradition that unites school communities and officers. BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Cozy Nook opened its doors on Oct. 20 at 7 a.m. at 357 East Main St, keeping the familiar Stompin’ Grounds menu while adding seasonal drinks and a welcoming space (its owners want all guests to feel like family).  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Thousands lined Main Street on Dec. 7 for the 56th Hendersonville Christmas Parade—Grand Marshal Dillon Carmichael led over 90 floats and local groups along a 1½ mile route, with Santa’s arrival concluding the festive display.  Hendersonville Standard
  • GRAMMY-nominated artist Forrest Frank will headline the Jesus Generation Tour at Geodis Park on June 19 with special guests Tori Kelly, Cory Asbury and The Figs. Tickets are available via an early presale from Dec. 10 and on sale today at 10 a.m.  Sumner County Source
  • Vol State professor and former investigator Kevin Cook premiered his short film 'Seven Minutes Out' about a boy facing a missile alert in Oak Ridge at NCG Cinemas in Gallatin on Nov. 23. He will submit it to film festivals and plans a future public showing at the Palace.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Volunteer State Community College announced that its annual Giving Day raised nearly $80k from 249 donors to support scholarships and student programs. The 24-hour celebration of community generosity is expected to boost future academic opportunities.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Children’s Emergency Care Alliance of Tennessee launched the MyHero Cares Program to help families with children who have complex medical needs by providing a secure EMS info portal (offering immediate emergency access) and personalized care plans. The program also builds community partnerships to boost disaster preparedness.  Hendersonville Standard
