- ➤ AAA forecasts that over 1.9 million Tennesseans will travel at least 50 miles from home during the Thanksgiving holiday from November 25 to December 1—marking a record increase from last year; more than 1.8 million will drive and travelers should prepare for heavy traffic and potential delays. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA said Tennessee gas prices rose by seven cents last week to $2.68 per gallon — three cents lower than one month ago and one cent lower than last Thanksgiving — and prices are expected to stay similar as many drivers head out for holiday travel. Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Human Services announced Monday that full SNAP benefits for November will be distributed, with those who initially received a partial benefit getting the remaining amount starting November 17 — households with no payments yet will see their full benefits in the coming days while December benefits are issued on schedule. - ➤ Local girls high school basketball teams face a season of change as nearly half of the programs have first-year coaches and players work to build new teamwork and competitiveness—promising intriguing Tuesday and Friday night matchups across the community. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Tennessee high school football playoffs are scheduled for Friday, November 21, with Division I playing in the Quarterfinal round for classes 1A to 6A and Division II in the Semifinal round for classes A, AA, and AAA — the TSSAA schedule covers local counties such as Davidson, Robertson, and Rutherford.
