COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Hendersonville Police Department invites neighbors to join the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk on November 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sanders Ferry Park (the event honors first responders and supports services for veterans).  Sumner County Source
  • Hendersonville residents can hunt deer safely from their backyards under a new city—TWRA program that aims to control a deer population reaching two to four times the state average. Hunters must have a valid license, complete a safety course, and use bows to reduce risks on neighboring properties.  NewsChannel 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Friendship Christian junior catcher Khloe Smith committed to play softball at Campbell University after she announced her decision Tuesday on her X account (she thanked her coaches, family, and friends for their support). The standout player was named to a district and regional team last spring and helped her school win many games.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • An 11-year-old student from Portland West Middle School is in critical condition after she attempted suicide on Sept. 29 following alleged bullying. Family and community members have raised support through bracelet sales—while school officials and the Sheriff's Office investigate the bullying claims and review anti-bullying policies.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sumner County is set to send six golfers and two teams to the TSSAA state golf tournament — including three from Hendersonville — after strong regional play. The tournament will be held from Oct. 6 to Oct. 10 at Sevierville Golf Club.  Hendersonville Standard
