  • AAA said that gas prices in Tennessee fell one cent on average over last week—leaving the statewide average at $2.77, which is unchanged from one month ago and a penny above levels recorded a year ago.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hendersonville city council approved an ordinance that requires vape shops to be at least 1,000 feet away from each other and from schools—this measure is meant to protect kids and manage local business growth as Mayor Jamie Clary compared the rules to liquor store regulations and local owner Ashley Smothers said the limits may help her shop compete.  NewsChannel 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • TBI, along with state Departments of Mental Health, Substance Abuse Services and Health, issued a safety alert today on the appearance of Medetomidine in the illicit drug supply - it is often mixed with fentanyl to create a dangerous combination that could lead to overdoses. Officials urge the public to avoid the substance and keep naloxone on hand for emergencies.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the SEC office unveiled Tennessee’s football schedule for 2026—2029, which features a nine-game conference format ensuring every team plays each other at least once every two years. The plan includes three fixed annual opponents to maintain traditional rivalries and rotating matchups that set home games against Alabama, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.  Sumner County Source
  • The Titans traded starting cornerback Jarvis Brownlee to the New York Jets on Tuesday for a swap of sixth — seventh round picks in 2026, and coach Brian Callahan said the deal fits both short-term and long-term plans.
