GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Aug. 29, the Hendersonville Police Department received the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award for its strong support of 17 Guard and Reserve members with policies like 20 days of paid military leave—presented at City Hall by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth along with Mayor Jamie Clary and Police Chief Jim Jones.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Thomas Dean, a longtime assistant district attorney and Hendersonville native, has been appointed as the new district attorney general for the 18th Judicial District effective Sept. 1. Gov. Bill Lee named him to fill Ray Whitley’s vacancy and he will work to add more resources to the office for crime victims.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nashville Predators will begin rookie camp on Sept. 10 with player physicals and team meetings before heading to Florida for the NHL Prospect Tournament. The 23 prospects, including recent first-round picks and tryout players, will practice on Sept. 11 at Centennial Sportsplex — then face teams from Carolina, Tampa Bay and Florida in the showcase.  Sumner County Source
