CRIME NEWS

  • Seth Rogers stands outside the Sumner County Sheriff's Office demanding more search efforts for his missing autistic son Sebastian, who vanished in February 2024, and he said he will keep protesting until law enforcement gets the FBI involved—he hopes extra help will bring answers.  NewsChannel 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sumner County health groups will host an overdose awareness fair at the renovated VBH Gallatin office at 510 E. Main Street on Friday, Aug. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m.—offering treatment, naloxone, and local support to fight opioid problems. The event uses opioid settlement funds to help connect community members with vital recovery options.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Harpeth High lost its season opener to Hickman County, 39–14, after the Bulldogs built a 27–0 lead with strong ground plays and key interceptions. Coach Charles Morehead said the team did not execute— and the Indians will regroup next week when they play Kingston Springs.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Kyla Scharfman—Friendship Christian senior and Mississippi State volleyball commit—has worked to break the school’s all-time digs record of 1,626 after her coach John Stephens gave her a sticky note in eighth grade. She practiced extra hours with teammates and coach Emma Green last fall to get ready for a record-breaking season.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Blaine’s Week 2 pick’em program for Sumner County high school football forecasts eight games—with the Smyrna Bulldogs expected to beat the Hendersonville Commandos 21-14 and wins predicted for teams like the Beech Buccaneers and JPII Knights—as coaches look to build on a strong opening week.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Sumner County sports schedule lists upcoming games in girls soccer and volleyball, including a girls soccer match with Hendersonville vs. Harpeth Hall on Aug. 28 and a volleyball game featuring Hendersonville at White House today — other contests feature teams like Portland and Gallatin through early September.  Hendersonville Standard
