- ➤ The US Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announced that Old Hickory Lock—located on the Cumberland River—will be closed to all navigation from Aug. 27 to Aug. 28 for maintenance to replace hydraulic oil in the lock gates and valves. The lock will resume regular hours on Aug. 29, operating from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has deployed detection dogs Winnie+Marcel to help plant inspectors in eastern and Middle Tennessee combat the invasive spotted lanternfly; the pair already led to a detection in Sumner County and will check plant shipments for signs of the pest.
