EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sumner County School Board member Steven King led the board to commit $250,000 today to renovate playgrounds for students with disabilities—extra funds from the Hospital Fund may improve access at five or six schools in the near future. Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Representatives from the Sumner County Trustee’s office will be at City Hall (101 Maple Drive North, Hendersonville) on Sept. 9-12 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to help homeowners who are 65 or older with income not exceeding $47,370 qualify for a property tax freeze, with appointments required by calling (615) 452-1260. - ➤ TVA invited Main Street Media to tour the Gallatin Steam Plant to see how its coal and gas facilities produce power today and plan for future needs. The agency said it will consider more energy options as it builds new capacity to meet growing demand. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Hendersonville public safety employees showed strong support for the TCRS Bridge Supplement program after attending informational meetings in March—70 percent agreed or strongly agreed while 16 percent opposed. City officials will review the survey results and plan to propose an ordinance for next year’s budget as they address cost concerns. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Planned lane closures are in effect across Middle Tennessee for road repair work from August 21 to 27, 2025—drivers will see alternating lane closures on highways such as I-24, I-40, and I-65 and on local roads affecting Hendersonville. The work includes resurfacing and paving to fix the roads and improve safety. Sumner County Source
