  • Hendersonville Parks and Rec is accepting registrations for fall youth tennis lessons, available with limited spots until August 28, and for fall adult pickleball leagues that cost $60 per team with a maximum of eight teams per division closing on August 29—residents can sign up to stay active this fall.  Sumner County Source
  • Local restaurant cook Cornell Bond, who is battling metastatic prostate cancer, will have a spaghetti fundraiser dinner on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 4 to 8 at Mary’s Place in Gallatin—where all proceeds will help with his medical bills—and he will also marry longtime girlfriend Kathy Warren during the event. A final decision on moving the fundraiser to the American Legion Post 17 is pending if more space is needed.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Hendersonville Civitan All-Star baseball team competed in the 9U Cal Ripken World Series in Florence, Ala this past week. Local hockey player Cam Angus returned home after a month away as his summer vacation was disrupted by the war between Israel and Iran.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Gallatin head coach Michael Stroup and quarterback Jackson Stroup enter their final season together, motivated by a hand-painted mural showing football legends that symbolizes their drive to improve after a 3-7 record last season. The team added new coaching staff to strengthen offense and defense and plans to build on personal records and game adjustments for a stronger season ahead.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Aug. 9, Nashville Soccer Club lost 3-1 to St. Louis City SC at Energizer Park when Hany Mukhtar scored a penalty in the 85th minute; the team was missing key players Dan Lovitz and Walker Zimmerman + leaving them four points behind the conference leader. They will host New York City FC at Yankee Stadium at 4 p.m. on Aug. 17 as they aim to improve their standing.  Sumner County Source
