CULTURE NEWS

  • The Nashville Film Festival announced its Tennessee program for its 56th event, which will run September 18th—24th at select local venues including Belcourt Theatre and Regal Green Hills. The lineup features more than 20 films from Tennessee talent such as 'YOU GOT GOLD: A CELEBRATION OF JOHN PRINE,' 'THE OTHER PEOPLE,' and 'LOUDER THAN GUNS'—all to be screened in person.  Sumner County Source
  • The General Jethro Sumner Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution has started a series about local Revolutionary War heroes Anthony and Isaac Bledsoe whose work at Bledsoe’s Fort in Castalian Springs shaped early Tennessee history. Their roles as soldiers and community leaders are marked by a monument—honoring their sacrifice and lasting impact.  Hendersonville Standard

  • Epiphany Wellness at 145 A Anderson Lane celebrated its two-year anniversary by offering food trucks for staff and clients. The facility helps people with addiction and mental health issues using modern, traditional, holistic, and evidence-based therapies.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today the Tennessee Titans face the Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. in Tampa Bay to launch their preseason after a joint practice on Aug. 7 at AdventHealth Training Center — the team will then travel to Atlanta for joint sessions on Aug. 12 and 13 followed by a preseason contest on Aug. 15 with the Falcons.  Sumner County Source
  • Station Camp football will try to break their trend of losing the first four games as coach Chris Bain and quarterback Colton Overbey announced plans to boost offense + strengthen defense. The team has added experienced coaches + updated its play schemes, and they will open the season with a doubleheader at Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, Ky.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Sumner County Rugby is hosting Try Rugby Days on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hendersonville Rugby Complex (1788 Avant Lane near Durham Farms) where high school boys and girls can learn the game and enjoy free Bruster’s Ice Cream as the club celebrates its 14th season.  Hendersonville Standard
