  • On July 31, Sumner County schools including several in Hendersonville took part in the district’s Sumner Gives Back program as teachers and staff volunteered at centers by running donation drives, cleaning school grounds, and assisting local nonprofits—helping families and community members across the area.   • Gallatin residents Emily Bowie, Ciera Diaz and Emma Diaz launched the mobile bookstore Prose & Pine Books after Hendersonville’s Barnes & Noble closed in April; they aim to serve book lovers across Sumner County with a wide selection of titles.  Hendersonville Standard

CRIME NEWS

  • Hendersonville Police warned residents on Wednesday night about a phone scam in which callers impersonating officers used personal details — they spoofed the department’s official police number and claimed active arrest warrants — to demand money.  Sumner County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Grammy-nominated Memphis-based roots, blues, and soul band Southern Avenue will celebrate the release of their new album Family with a live performance at Sanders Ferry Park, 513 Sanders Ferry Road in Hendersonville—scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. The concert is part of the Rock Castle Summer Songwriter Series.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center in Hendersonville will receive four state grants totaling $75,930 to expand local educational and outreach arts programs—part of a $12.3 million initiative approved by the Tennessee General Assembly.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Hendersonville is fixing Stop 30 Road from New Shackle Island Road to Drakes Creek for new pavement, with drainage pipe work set to take three to four weeks+ road closures will occur briefly from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. since school restarted on Aug. 4. Workers are also paving Vietnam Veterans Boulevard overnight and improving nearby ramps between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Hendersonville Standard

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A report of property transfers from June 5 to 11 shows many real estate sales in Sumner County — including in Hendersonville where deals ranged from $75,000 to over $1.4 million. The records list transactions in Bethpage, Cottontown, Gallatin, and Goodlettsville, marking a busy week in local property markets.  Hendersonville Standard
