  • Registrations are open for judges at the 6th Annual Hendersonville Pig Fest Presented by Dude Wipes, which will be held at Veteran’s Park from October 23-25. Judges will receive perks such as a pin + t-shirt + tickets to the kickoff concert and food tastings while the event, hosted by HolidayFest and Hendersonville Parks and Recreation Department, supports local charities Mary’s Magical Place, LiveLoveNashville, Grace Place and Christmas4Kids.  Sumner County Source

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Emergency officials responded to a report of a possible drowning near Hamilton Creek on Percy Priest Lake after 74-year-old David Holcroft fell overboard from his sailboat on Saturday, August 2 (he was not wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket) and he was pronounced dead at TriStar Summit Medical Center.  Sumner County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Tennessee Higher Education Commission has opened the TN Promise application for the high school class of 2026 — an initiative that offers tuition-free college at eligible institutions and automatic admission through a new pilot program — with a deadline on Monday, Nov. 3. Students will receive mentoring and support as they prepare to transition to college.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Sumner County Museum is hosting its first Homeschool Traveling Trunk Day on September 25th at 10:00 a.m. at The Station (117 West Main St, Gallatin) to offer hands-on history exhibits for homeschool students with limited spots available by prior registration.  Sumner County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Tennessee Department of Health’s June report showed that several Middle Tennessee healthcare providers faced disciplinary actions, including a Nashville paramedic who lost his license for self-administering medication (a key patient safety violation) and a Hendersonville AEMT whose license was revoked for false clinical documentation (a breach of proper records). The report detailed additional penalties for unpermitted EMS operations and incomplete continuing education that have raised concerns across the region.  Sumner County Source
