COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sumner County Farm Bureau donated $2,700 to the Sumner County Schools Family Resource Center using funds raised at Shooting Hunger events in East, Middle and West Tennessee to help fight hunger. The next Middle Tennessee event will be held on Sept. 18 at the Nashville Gun Club+ it will support local families in need.  Hendersonville Standard

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pleasant View native Sarah Mehany, a 22-year-old college graduate, won the 2025 Best Bagger Competition held as part of the Tennessee Grocer and Convenience Store Association Convention and Expo at the Marriott Bonvoy Renaissance Shoals Resort in Muscle Shoals, earning a $2,000 scholarship. She will travel to the national competition in February in Las Vegas and her precise bag weight skills were praised by H.G. Hill’s store manager Jason Apple — noting her long history with the grocery store.  Hendersonville Standard

  • The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring a Field Representative to support the 2025 Special Census in White House. Applicants will work from home while traveling locally, earning $28/hr plus receiving flexible schedules and paid training.  Sumner County Source

  • Jackson Stroup, Gallatin's record-breaking quarterback and son of Green Wave coach Michael Stroup, announced his commitment to the Virginia Military Institute after receiving a full scholarship offer on Monday. He chose VMI over offers from Sewanee, Kentucky Wesleyan, Bethel, Hampden-Sydney College and UVA Wise.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Titans waived injured wide receiver Treylon Burks after he hurt his shoulder in Saturday’s practice and signed former Tennessee Vol receiver Ramel Keyton—waived by the Raiders in April—to boost their roster.
