  • Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County will host the Pinot & Purses Fundraiser at EPIC Event Centre in Gallatin on September 18th at (5:30 pm) to support building safe, affordable homes for local families. The event will feature live and silent auctions, music, food and entertainment to raise funds for essential community programs.  Sumner County Source

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, a fisherman reported a body near mile marker 183 at around 9 a.m.—Fire Department personnel later recovered it from the Cumberland River—the victim was identified as 28-year-old Christopher J. Jenkins of Nashville, found fully clothed with signs of decomposition and no apparent foul play.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ray Whitley, the longest-serving District Attorney General in Sumner County (45 years of service), will retire on September 1 and leaves behind a legacy of prosecuting thousands of cases while mentoring local law enforcement partners.  Sumner County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors in Sumner County gave many food service establishments a perfect 100 score from July 14 to 28 as part of routine inspections — public reports are available at county offices.  Sumner County Source
  • The Department of Health released the lowest food health scores in Sumner County for July 14-28—these scores come from Nashville Hot Chicken and Gyro and First Watch in Hendersonville inspected on July 24 and July 18, and Ricardo’s in Gallatin inspected on July 24. Food service places are required to post their latest inspection reports so the public can see the scores.  Sumner County Source

  • On July 26th, Full Count Rhythm swept their postseason opponents at Drakes Creek Park to win their third OVL championship after returning from the Prospect League (they previously claimed titles in 2022 and 2023).  Hendersonville Standard
