  • Community Life Bridge will hold its fourth annual 'Be the Bridge 2025' luncheon and silent auction on Aug. 21 at Our Lady of the Lake—this event will honor the volunteers and organizations that support its work.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hendersonville author Chris Ehrlich has released his new book Subparts of a Life: 40 Stories on Being Human, which shares short stories about our best traits. The book (highlighting hope and kindness) arrives as machines grow more human-like (with artificial intelligence and robotics sparking new ideas about what makes us unique).  Hendersonville Standard

ECONOMY NEWS

  • From July 25 to July 27, Tennessee shoppers will be able to buy qualifying clothing, school supplies and computers without sales tax, with eligible items priced at $100 or less and computers at $1,500 or less. Purchases can be made online or in stores (items must be purchased for personal use) and restrictions apply.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jeremy Mansfield introduced a resolution to limit Sumner County Commissioners to two four-year terms in their lifetimes + allow current commissioners to run for one more term; the county commission will vote on the measure Monday, July 28 if approved by the Tennessee General Assembly.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On July 15, the state awarded $3.5 million in LPRF grants to Hendersonville for a $5.9 million project to improve parks like Drakes Creek, Sanders Ferry and Veterans Park—funds that match $2 million from city sources and will support accessible playgrounds, upgraded courts and new recreational areas—and the improvements are set to proceed after final planning reviews.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Flashing yellow left turn signals will be installed at several Hendersonville intersections with a new signal starting this week at Main Street and Indian Lake Boulevard and three additional signals planned for intersections that meet safety criteria. City officials said the signals will improve traffic flow and reduce wait times — the funding comes from the Public Works budget.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tennessee drivers can now pre-purchase Donate Life Tennessee specialty license plates that raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation—the plates will fund statewide donor education and outreach efforts. At least 1,000 plates must be pre-purchased to move them to production.  Hendersonville Standard
