  • On July 10, 2025, Sumner County man Johnny Ray Jackson, 55, was sentenced to ten years—one year in jail and nine years under community supervision—after a TBI investigation showed he impersonated a licensed professional, illegally sold insurance after losing his license, and fraudulently transferred an elderly client’s annuity funds.  Sumner County Source

  • Tennessee’s tax free weekend will begin at 12:01 a.m. on July 25 and end at 11:59 p.m. on July 27, allowing tax-free purchases of clothing, school supplies and computers for personal use (with price limits and exclusions for items sold together or for nonpersonal use).  Sumner County Source
  • Beacon Center of Tennessee released its new City Freedom Index today, ranking 30 large cities based on policies affecting taxes, property rights, business regulations and individual liberty. The study uses over 70 data points in four categories to show how municipal rules shape residents’ daily lives.  Sumner County Source

  • Hendersonville hockey player Cam Angus returned home on July 9 after spending weeks in Israel where he took shelter from rocket siren alerts and nearby blasts. He posted strong season marks with his HC Tel Aviv team and has booked his flight to return for next season.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Titans are preparing for training camp report day on July 22 by focusing on rookie Cam Ward’s adjustment and shoring up an inconsistent offensive line—recent free agent Dan Moore was brought in amid concerns over center Lloyd Cushenberry’s recovery.
