- ➤ A mass shooting threat against Walmart in Hendersonville led to the arrest of 37-year-old Patrick Michael Ehringer on Monday, June 23—he was charged with false reports after a joint investigation by the Hendersonville Police Department and the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security, with his court appearance set for July 9 and bond at $200,000. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sumner County Schools provided an update last week on stadium improvements at high schools including Beech, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Station Camp, Portland and Merrol Hyde Magnet; completed brickwork at Beech and new steel work at Hendersonville were noted while further seating and field upgrades are scheduled in the coming weeks—permits for the Merrol Hyde Magnet tennis courts are expected this week. - ➤ Governor Bill Lee signed a law that expands ABLE TN accounts to cover 148,000 disabled Tennesseans by raising the age eligibility to 46—allowing them to save tax-free without losing benefits. - ➤ Last week, Chief Jim Jones presented Lifesaver Awards to Master Patrol Officer Troy VanAmburg, Officer Jeremy Lanas, and Officer Noah Hrobsky for their lifesaving response to a 911 call after a local victim suffered serious bodily injury from strangulation—police officers who acted quickly in a critical situation.
