ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Cumberland River Compact will host its annual free Waterfest in Peay Park in Goodlettsville on Friday, June 27 from 10 a.m.—noon. The event will feature interactive exhibits, waterslides, a splash pad, a family dance party, and a free snow cone will be given to the first 200 guests.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 240 will sponsor a Spousal Benefits Seminar on Saturday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Saundersville United Methodist Church Educational Building—located at 710 E. Main Street—and Jeff Oakey, the Sumner County Veteran Service Officer, will lead the session to help active-duty military and veteran spouses learn about available VA benefits and complete necessary forms. The seminar will offer guidance on benefits and form submissions for eligible family members.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its 2025 all-state soccer team on Wednesday, choosing top players from multiple classifications including local standout Sonny French from Hendersonville — who helped secure a 1-0 win in the state quarterfinals. The list honors athletes from various schools for their strong performances in state competitions.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Sunday morning, several bowlers competed at Hermitage lanes in the Tennessee Top 5 Tournament; Slate Berryman beat Grayson Menefee 151 to 125 in the boys U10 final—Blakely Mullinax, Ella Deems, Sami Malone and Riley Akins placed in other divisions and will practice for the Junior Gold National Tournament in Green Bay set for July 11-19.  Hendersonville Standard
