ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee gas prices remain steady at $2.70 for the second week in a row—four cents lower than a month ago and $0.33 less than last year. The state now ranks as the third least-expensive for gas, following Mississippi and Oklahoma.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Girls flag football had its emerging sport status removed Tuesday as TSSAA voted unanimously to sanction a permanent state championship—an update that follows a pilot program in Williamson County where 127 teams competed. The sport will be played in the spring with two classes and 16 regions next season.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Green Hill Athletic Director EJ Wood was unanimously approved Tuesday as the new assistant executive director for the TSSAA and will replace Gene Menees, who retires on August 31 after 34 years in the role. The board also reviewed plans for a new 19,000-square-foot office building with 24 office spaces — a move that comes as updated transfer eligibility policies were finalized for student-athletes with special needs.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Full Count Rhythm ended a busy week in the Ohio Valley League with a one-hit shutout win over the Fulton Railroaders led by Chase Fernandez, Eli Lamb, and Carter Kelley — the pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts in nine innings while the team also lost to the Henderson Flash and Madisonville Miners before clinching comeback wins against the Paducah Chiefs and Hoptown Hoppers; they took Tuesday off and will play seven straight games next.  Hendersonville Standard
