  • The Farmers & Artisan Market held its 18th season on Saturday, May 23 at the Streets of Indian Lake. Manager Cheryl Puryear said vendors described the event as a homecoming with locals gathering to support their community.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Tailgate Brewery in Hendersonville is hosting a donation drive on Saturday, May 30 at 248 Sanders Ferry Road, where Smart Art + Craft Supplies will collect art and craft supplies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to support local job training programs for adults with disabilities.  Hendersonville Standard

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce has named Ashton Jennings as its new President and CEO; he will take over on June 1 to lead local efforts — he brings over 20 years of leadership in business development and community engagement to support local partnerships.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center will host an exhibit featuring 60 paintings by musician Steve Wariner from June 21 to July 26 at 1017 Antebellum Circle in Hendersonville. An opening reception is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and Wariner will be present to discuss his art.  Sumner County Source
  • Local author JD Webb discussed his passion for writing this month during a sit-down interview, explaining that his Illinois upbringing and Air Force background fuel his imaginative fiction. His fresh insights resonate with readers in the community.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sumner County SRO CHAMP Camp held free five-day sessions for middle schoolers at Rucker-Stewart Middle (Gallatin) and Portland East Middle beginning Monday, May 25. The camps offer meals, lessons on character traits and fingerprint kits to help with child safety.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Tuesday, May 19, the Sumner County School Board approved two school zoning changes for the upcoming year that will move William Burrus students to Beech Elementary and adjust Bethpage zones, with some transportation exceptions for middle school transitions.  Hendersonville Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The local shelter is featuring two adoptable pets this week: Brock, a 1-year-old Standard Poodle who needs to gain weight and is available for $400, and TC, a 5-year-old domestic short hair that is house trained and current on vaccinations. Both pets are neutered.  Hendersonville Standard
