CULTURE NEWS

  • The 2025 Promise Land Music & Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Promise Land Historic Site—featuring music, art, food, and a Parade of Hats for Healthy Hearts at 12 noon to support community needs.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Hendersonville FREEDOM FESTIVAL 2025, presented by Schell Brothers, will be held on July 3 at Drakes Creek Park with activities beginning at 5:00 p.m. plus a fireworks display at 9:00 p.m., weather permitting.  Sumner County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • YMCA of Middle Tennessee held its annual YMCA Achievers Scholarship Celebration on May 6 at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center to honor high school seniors and program alumni for their academic achievements. Over 150 attendees joined the event (with support from Nissan, Clark Construction, and Bass, Berry, Sims PLC) while advisors helped students secure more than $2.3 million in scholarships.  Sumner County Source

  • Eddie, a one-year-old Shepherd mix weighing 50 pounds, is neutered and up to date on vaccinations while available for adoption for $250; McQueen, a 4-year-old Domestic Short hair that is house trained, neutered and current on vaccinations is available for adoption for $125.   • Creek Wood High’s Lady Red Hawks played in the TSSAA State Tournament last week — they lost their opening game 3 to 0 to Heritage. The team then won games 11 to 1 and 4 to 3 in back-to-back contests — ending their season.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault criticized coach Andrew Brunette's offensive system that produced only 2.59 goals per game and spurred trade speculation for the 34 year old veteran. NHL insiders named the Toronto Maple Leafs or Montreal Canadiens as potential landing spots—while Predators GM Barry Trotz expects Marchessault to work with Brunette before next season.  Hendersonville Standard
