- ➤ The Pilot Club of Sumner County will hold a free bicycle rodeo in Triple Creek Park on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; children (ages 5-10) will learn bike safety, receive free helmets, and enjoy food and prize giveaways as they complete a 20-minute station course. - ➤ Hendersonville Rotary Club was named Outstanding Club of the Year by its Rotary District, which includes 57 clubs from Clarksville to Lawrenceburg and from Murfreesboro to nearly Memphis. Club President Russ Edwards said the award recognizes the club's strong performance this year. Hendersonville Standard
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Broken Paddle Outfitters opened in Memorial Park on May 8 offering kayak, canoe, paddleboard and john boat rentals this summer. The business, approved by city reviews + working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, operates daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 151 East Main Street. Hendersonville Standard
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Isaacs will perform free at Hendersonville’s Memorial Day Hometown Jam on Monday, May 25 at Veterans Park. Doors open at 3 p.m., with a 4 p.m. show featuring an all-star jam session, food trucks — a tribute to service members and first responders. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Hendersonville’s historic Rock Castle will host the Nashville Symphony on June 3 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Community Concerts series (the event is at 139 Rockcastle Lane and kicks off a tour running through June 13). Hendersonville Standard
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two Hendersonville High School seniors (Carly Meador and Brenda Perez Garcia) have been recognized with the BBB Students of Integrity Scholarship for their leadership, honesty and community service in school and local neighborhoods. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Floyd Malone of Gallatin was named the inaugural recipient of Sumner County Schools' Lifetime Service Award at the Educator of the Year and Support Staff Reception earlier this year. He celebrated 32 years of service and received a certificate with a personal note from Director of Schools (Scott Langford). Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ The Sumner County school board approved rezoning this week to rebalance enrollment due to rapid housing growth, and more than 200 Burrus Elementary students are being reassigned to new schools. Affected Hendersonville families will send children to Beech Elementary and TW Hunter Middle next school year (reassignment starts soon). NewsChannel 5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, May 15, the Hendersonville Fire Department (HFD) and several agencies held a water rescue training exercise at Sanders Ferry Park to practice helicopter rescues on the lake. Training chief Andrew Haden said the exercise helped improve coordination for future responses along the city's shoreline. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Highpoint Health - Sumner now offers the CORI surgical system for knee replacement procedures, which gives doctors real-time guidance for a more precise, personalized surgery and faster recovery. The hospital is making advanced joint replacement options more accessible to patients in Middle Tennessee. Sumner County Source
- ➤ Blood Assurance urges residents to donate blood, platelets, and plasma from now through summer to prevent shortages during the '100 Deadliest Days of Summer' when hospitals face increased emergency needs. Donors giving blood before May 31 can receive a Memorial Day T-shirt. Sumner County Source
