- ➤ Liberty Creek won Sumner County’s first girls track and field state championship on May 21 with 111 points over Memphis East — the team overcame lightning delays and a tornado warning while coach Scott Wietecha led its final Class A season before moving up next year — showing strong local talent. - ➤ The Creek Wood Lady Red Hawks earned a state softball tournament spot with a 10 to 0 win over the Portland Panthers last Friday — they jumped ahead in the first inning with a Portland error and a groundout by Elizabeth Martin after a region championship loss earlier in the week. - ➤ Station Camp soccer advanced to the Class AA state semifinals after a 7-0 win as Ryan Hendon scored a hat trick and debuted a new hairdo while four other players also scored. - ➤ Keon Garrett from Burns Middle School won the 1600-meter run at the TMSAA Class A State Championship on May 17 at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville — his time of 4:49.07 is the second-fastest in Class A history, with only last year’s record beating it. Teammate Levi Dixon finished fifth in the 1600 and eighth in the 800, while Jasmyn Williamson set a personal best in the discus with a seventh-place finish. Hendersonville Standard
