  • Young Scouts from Scouting America will place small American flags on service members’ graves this Memorial Day to honor their service; they will decorate two federal, one state and at least a dozen private cemeteries—Hendersonville Memorial Gardens— as part of a 70-year tradition in Middle Tennessee. More than 1,500 participants, including Scouts and parents, are expected to join the community service project.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Morgan Wallen released his highly anticipated fourth album I'm The Problem on May 19, featuring 37 tracks that mix country, cross and dirt-rock influences + collaborations with Post Malone, Tate McRae, Eric Church, ERNEST and HARDY. Other country artists launched new music this week, including Bryce Leatherwood’s debut album, The Talbott Brothers’ Borderlands, Tayla Lynn’s single I Wanna Be Free, Grace Tyler’s Heart You Broke, Gary LeVox + Akon’s summer track Hold The Umbrella, and Wyatt Ellis’s single Choo Choo Coming.  Sumner County Source
  • After performing on American Idol with the Goo Goo Dolls on Sunday evening, teen Mattie Pruitt released her new single 'Strings' and said on social media that the show built her confidence and lasting friendships.   • Gas prices in Tennessee held steady at $2.72 per gallon (up three cents from a month ago but 44 cents below last year's average) as higher holiday demand may push changes over Memorial Day weekend.  Hendersonville Standard

  • Tennessee Governor Bill Lee declared Contractor Fraud Awareness Week from May 19th to May 23rd to remind residents to verify contractor licensing and know how to file a complaint if fraud occurs—TDCI and the Board for Licensing Contractors urge consumers to stay informed about contracting regulations.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Station Camp softball lost 2-1 at McNairy Central in a Class 3A sectional game on Saturday afternoon — Katelyn Wilson scored the only run for Station Camp as McNairy Central scored in the third and fifth innings to advance to their second state tournament in three seasons.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Nashville Soccer Club stayed unbeaten after a scoreless draw against D.C. United on May 17th at GEODIS Park — goalkeeper Joe Willis reached his milestone 500th save and earned his fourth clean sheet. The club will face Orlando City SC Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16.  Sumner County Source
