GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TDOT announced that lane closures on interstates and state routes will be suspended from noon Friday, May 22, to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, to keep roads clear for high traffic during Memorial Day weekend while motorists are reminded to watch for reduced speed zones in work areas.  Sumner County Source

  • UT Horticulture Extension Agent Lucas Holman advises local gardeners on growing okra by soaking seeds + spacing plants closely before thinning for frequent harvest once soil warms to near 60°. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Between March 5 and 11, 2026, Sumner County saw numerous property transfers in areas including Bethpage, Castalian Springs, Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Portland, and White House, with sale prices ranging from $200,000 to over $7,500,000 + indicating a dynamic market.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Creek Wood sent track and field athletes Jayden Howes, Lilly Stone and Hollee Wilson to Knoxville for Tuesday’s state championship meet at the University of Tennessee’s Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. Howes will run the 400 meters while Stone and Wilson compete in field events.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Beech baseball coach Kris McWhirter resigned Monday after five successful seasons with the Buccaneers, during which his teams won four district championships & a state tournament. He plans to take a break from coaching and will consider future opportunities later.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Titans released their 2026 schedule with season openers on Sept. 13 against the Jets and Sept. 20 against the Eagles, a bye on Nov. 8, and the final Nissan Stadium game on Jan. 3. The preseason lineup features three contests with joint practices planned with select opponents.  Sumner County Source
  • Creek Wood’s baseball season ended Friday when the Lady Red Hawks lost 7–0 to Liberty Creek in a sectional game. After a week that featured an 11–1 win over Tullahoma and a 10–5 region championship against Lawrence County, the team finished 26–12 and will return next season with most players.  Hendersonville Standard
