EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Four Sumner County schools earned high marks at the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association Solo and Ensemble Festival held Saturday at Lebanon High School. Hendersonville High School’s Chamber and Vocal Jazz Choirs received Superior ratings + other ensembles and soloists also earned top honors. Sumner County Source
- ➤ Dr. Scott Langford, a Sumner County Schools leader, is named a national finalist for Leadership in a District Over 2,500 for advancing academic opportunities. He was nominated earlier this year for his work expanding career and technical education programs (including school safety improvements) and boosting innovative learning experiences. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sumner County health inspectors gave perfect 100 scores to food service, hotel, and school sites in Gallatin and Hendersonville from April 24 to May 11. Inspection reports are available for public review (per county policy). Sumner County Source
- ➤ YMCA of Middle Tennessee received the Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health for its Mental Health First Aid training and will host free Mental Health Matters events this month at local locations including Sumner County Family YMCA (Hendersonville) on May 15; additional sessions in Nashville are planned. 3-9 p.m. — Veterans Park — Free entry — Celebrate Memorial Day with The Isaacs and a star-studded jam session alongside food trucks and community honors.
