COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 218 young people earned the rank of Eagle Scout during the 2024-2025 program year with the Middle Tennessee Council of Scouting America. They were honored Sunday at the annual awards ceremony—completing service projects that totaled over 40,000 hours in community work across the region.  Sumner County Source
  • The Isaacs Foundation will present the Hendersonville Hometown Jam Memorial Day Concert with The Isaacs on Monday, May 26th at Veterans Park in Hendersonville as gates open at 3:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 4:00 p.m.—free tickets are required for entry—and parking, food trucks and an opening performance by The French Family will be available.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, TDOT announced that the state’s annual budget provides $80 million in recurring funds and $1 billion in non-recurring funds to speed up its 10-year transportation plan—money reallocated from Tire Sales Tax revenue—so that roads and bridges are better maintained without raising taxes.  Sumner County Source
  • Sumner County Sheriff’s Department joined the ICE 287(g) program on April 29 to better process individuals in custody and join five other counties; Sheriff Eric Craddock said—via email—the move is aimed at enhancing community safety while the department considers future grants.  The Tennessean

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jo Byrns High School softball swept East Robertson in the best-of-three District 8-1A championship series on Monday and Wednesday, clinching their fifth straight district crown. The team, which has won 17 consecutive games against its rival since the COVID-shortened 2020 season, will advance to the Region 4-1A semifinals on May 12—continuing their strong postseason run.  Hendersonville Standard
