COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community Life Bridge supports local seniors with its Community Life Ride, a volunteer service offering rides for essential appointments from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The nonprofit, based in Hendersonville, continues to seek volunteers to help ease transportation barriers across Sumner County.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jazzy Nichols and Madolyn Sheler were chosen as commencement speakers for Sycamore High’s Class of 2026. The graduation will be held Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at APSU’s Dunn Center (students and families are invited to attend).  Hendersonville Standard
  • Sumner County Schools’ Innovation Center will host the first Draft Day event on Friday, May 8 at the Carolyn Smith Innovation Center in Sumner County. The event, presented by Meta, celebrates students pursuing skilled trades careers as part of the Be Pro Be Proud Tennessee workforce initiative.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Beech Buccaneers won their fourth consecutive district baseball title on Monday night with a score of 14 to 4 over Hendersonville in the championship game. The win sets them up to compete in the regional tournament while Hendersonville finished as runners up.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Friendship Christian won the Division II-A Middle Region championship with a 5-4 victory over BGA on Tuesday, led by coach Mike Kittrell and pitcher Mollie Johnson. The team will host the winner between St. Benedict and Christian Academy of Knoxville in a best-of-three quarterfinal series from May 13–16.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Creek Wood High School’s softball team defeated Waverly Central, shutting them out 10-0 during Senior Night last week and honoring seniors Zoe Coleman and Alohna McClanahan. The team will host Battle Creek for the district tournament on Monday night.  Hendersonville Standard
