  • The Oak Grove Community Fire District is hosting its inaugural pancake breakfast fundraiser and silent auction this Saturday, May 16 from 7-11 a.m. at the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department on Blackey Bandy Road in Bethpage, featuring auction items donated by local businesses.  Hendersonville Standard

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee gas prices have reached $4.03 per gallon for the first time since July 2022, up 26 cents from last week and 18 cents from last month, according to AAA spokeswoman Megan Cooper. Drivers may see further increases this week as rising crude oil costs linked to the Iranian conflict and the closed Strait of Hormuz push pump prices higher.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas filed a CON application to expand services at its Sumner Station campus near new housing and schools. The planned $59.3 million project + will add inpatient, surgical, and pediatric care if approved.  Sumner County Source

  • Between Feb. 19-25, several residences in Hendersonville changed hands in transactions ranging from $300K at 108 Cline St. — sold to Nichole Hampton — to over $2M at 104 Windward Point and $2.25M at 542 Cumberland Hills Dr., reflecting an active local real estate market.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Amanda Bourk from Hendersonville signed with UT Southern last week + joins Gallatin's Ava Hesson, Liberty Creek's Olivia Tate, and Portland's Mykel Thornton in Sumner County's second girls flag football recruiting class. The new signings boost the rapid growth of the sport following its recent TSSAA sanction.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Harpeth High's Lady Indians beat Cheatham County Central 10-0 in their final regular season softball game as Taylor Riley pitched five scoreless innings to end the Lady Cubs' season.  Hendersonville Standard
  • After donating his kidney to help Ronnie McMahan recover from a serious kidney disease six days ago, Station Camp coach Jeremy Cooke led his team to an 8-0 win in the District 9-AA semifinals at Liberty Creek last Monday.
