ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday afternoon, a school bus carrying nineteen students from Westmoreland Middle and High School overturned in a dry creek bed in Bethpage—five students were taken to hospitals while fourteen were released to their parents—and authorities are investigating if mechanical issues caused the accident.  Sumner County Source

  • Local teen Mattie Pruitt from Eagleville earned a spot in the Top 10 on American Idol after her performance of Kelly Clarkson’s 'Because of You' on Monday, April 28th. Judge Luke Bryan praised her talent and she thanked her supporters on social media as she continues her journey on the show.  Sumner County Source

  • The Health Department report shows the four establishments with the lowest food health scores in Sumner County from April 14 to 29 — Taqueria El Guerrerense in Hendersonville on April 22, Los Cantaritos in Gallatin on April 16, China Buffet in Gallatin on April 24 and Gyros King in Portland on April 21.  Sumner County Source

  • Today, Hendersonville, the No.2 seed, faces No.3 seeded Green Hill at 7 p.m. at Beech High’s Shackle Island Community in the District 12-4A tournament—while fourth-seeded Mt. Juliet plays No.5 seed Gallatin at 4 p.m.—with winners set to advance in later rounds.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Eight Sumner County spring sports teams ended their regular season on top of district standings. The TSSAA will launch a student advisory committee with 20 student-athletes this spring to give students a voice in state sports—each member will offer input on key issues.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Gary Baker introduced Cracker Barrel to NASCAR 43 years ago—he convinced the restaurant founder to sponsor a race at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, drawing a large crowd and changing race sponsorship. Cracker Barrel will return as the title sponsor of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on June 1.  Hendersonville Standard
