COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Presented by WHIN Radio, the annual K9 Classic 5K Walk/Run will take place Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m. on the Hendersonville Greenway (150 Saundersville Road behind Schell Brothers and the library) and will benefit Safe Place for Animals, with registration costing $15 per dog or $5 for pet-free runners.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Run for Rose Mont Kentucky Derby Party will take place on Saturday, May 2 from 4-7 p.m. at Historic Rose Mont in Gallatin, and will feature mint juleps, live music + auctions to support local preservation efforts.  Sumner County Source
  • Local author Jack McCall reflects on the deep bond he shared with his late mother as Mother's Day nears. He recalls cherished childhood moments (like their bedtime hand-holding) and plans to honor her memory with prayer.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials in Hendersonville issued a burn ban today because dry conditions and a forecast for little rain have raised fire risks. The ban cancels all burn permits, stopping bonfires, campfires, and yard debris burning & fire crews urge residents to safely use charcoal grills.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Beech senior Kaden Powell played all nine positions from shortstop to pitcher in a 4-3 win against Blackman on Saturday, showing his versatility on the field. Coach Kris McWhirter said Powell has been preparing for this moment since his sophomore year.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Friendship Christian baseball clinched its second Division II-A District 4 title with a 5-4 win over Goodpasture on Monday, with strong pitching and timely hitting that extended the team's winning streak to 17 in-state contests.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Harpeth High celebrated four seniors on Thursday night as the Indians played the Northwest Vikings, with families joining the Senior Night festivities. The team will travel to Stewart County on Wednesday for the district tournament.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Monday night, the Sycamore High War Eagles celebrated senior night for Owen McMahan and Kyler Perkins by winning 5-4 over the Fairview High Yellow Jackets with a walk-off hit by Braxton Quinnan (earning praise from coach Matt Carrigan). The team will host the district tournament starting Wednesday at Sycamore.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hendersonville softball ended its regular season on Monday with a 12-2 win over Beech, marking its best record in a decade and setting the stage for the upcoming district tournament.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Titans drafted eight players in the 2026 NFL Draft — including wide receiver Carnell Tate and edge rusher Keldric Faulk — to strengthen quarterback Cam Ward’s arsenal. Analysts graded the picks from A+ to C+ as Tennessee reshaped both its offense and defense.  Sumner County Source
