CULTURE NEWS

  • Local strawberry farms invite families to pick fresh berries this season (fresh picks are sweeter than storebought ones) and offer a fun outdoor activity where kids can learn where their food comes from.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Following a sold-out Galentine’s Tea event, The Little Tea House returns to Historic Stonewall on Sunday, May 10. Guests can enjoy tea, a four-course lunch and sweets at one of two seating times (1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) with tickets costing $50 per person and $35 for children under 12.  Sumner County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Beech High School faced early dismissals this week as rising heat from ongoing HVAC repairs led administrators to shorten the day while over 60 portable AC units have been deployed + repair work is set to complete by Monday.  WSMV 4
  • First Lady Maria Lee announced today the eighth annual Tennessee Kids Serve Summer Challenge for kindergarten through sixth graders. Participants must complete two service activities and at least two hours of work between June 1 and Aug. 1 to earn a carnival invitation with the Governor in September.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hendersonville Public Library is accepting applications for two Library Clerk positions (one full-time and one part-time) to support patrons and daily library services. Applicants must be available for evenings and weekends, and the application deadline is May 1.  Sumner County Source
  • Officer Jamie Inchaurregui was named Officer of the Month for March after she began CPR on March 28 to help her husband, Deputy SRO Jerry Inchaurregui, during his cardiac emergency. The Sumner County Sheriff's Office recognized her prompt and heroic action.  Sumner County Source

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11, property transfers were recorded across Sumner County, with transactions in Bethpage, Castalian Springs, Cottontown, Gallatin and Hendersonville, and amounts ranging from $90,000 to $1.92 million.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Station Camp soccer won a 4-1 game on Tuesday against rival Hendersonville, marking its sixth straight win in the series (its statement week). The team continues to build momentum for upcoming matches.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Reagan Hudson, a Merrol Hyde forward, signed with Volunteer State Community College women’s soccer on Wednesday, joining the team’s first recruiting class for its upcoming season—she finished high school with 58 goals, 62 assists and three state championships.  Hendersonville Standard
