- ➤ Kathleen Hawkins has been named executive director of Associated General Contractors of Middle Tennessee, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience with a track record in business growth (and community engagement) where she recently served as president and CEO. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hendersonville graduate Ava Heeren gained hands-on experience at the Masters Tournament, working in hospitality, merchandising, and operations. Her role is part of a partnership between the College of Human Environmental Sciences and Augusta National (a prestigious golf club event) that offers students valuable real-world learning. - ➤ On April 7, the Sumner County School Board heard from Director of Schools Scott Langford as he outlined potential capital projects that may appear in upcoming budget talks. The board will review his recommendations for future district improvements. Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Parks and Recreation department seeks community input through an online survey (1,200 responses so far, aiming for 2,000) for its Master Plan update that will guide park improvements and event planning by the end of April. This survey is the first step in a six-month plan to review and enhance facilities. Hendersonville Standard
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Thursday night, Cole O’Hara made his NHL debut for the Predators at Bridgestone Arena by earning his first assist 10 minutes into the game. The rookie, recalled from the Admirals, played 11 minutes in the season finale as Nashville lost 5-4. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ At PCA, senior Chris Washington Jr. committed to play college basketball for Tennessee on Thursday, April 16, in front of family and friends. The 6 foot 9 forward averaged 19.5 points and nearly 10 rebounds in his final season — finishing his prep career with over 2,000 points. Hendersonville Standard
