COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Several groups will host Easter Egg hunts this weekend to celebrate Easter. Gallatin Public Library will have an indoor hunt at 5:30 p.m. on April 17, Friends of Miracle Park will hold an outdoor hunt at 11 a.m. on April 18, and First Baptist Church in Hendersonville will host a hunt at Sanders Ferry Park at 10 a.m.—featuring a special event at 3 p.m. for children with special needs.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in Tennessee affected by storms and flooding that began on April 2 and postponed federal tax filing and payment deadlines until Nov. 3. Affected taxpayers in areas declared by FEMA do not need to contact the agency for standard relief—additional options for disaster losses may be available.  Sumner County Source

  • Predators defenseman Brady Skjei said he is disappointed with his first season after scoring 33 points and finishing with a minus 23 rating while adapting to coach Andrew Brunette's system, and he will work to improve his play next season with a healthier lineup including returning captain Roman Josi and Jeremy Lauzon.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Gallatin graduate Mykal Manfred works as an assistant goalkeeper coach at Liberty Creek while he waits for his first chance to play professionally. He joined the staff in March but a car accident then limited him and he expects to be ready for fall tryouts (after his recovery).  Hendersonville Standard
