Good morning, Hendersonville. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 2nd of April.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sumner County Foster Friendly Coalition, organized by Tennessee Kids Belong, will host its Second Annual Foster Care Community Day on Saturday, April 5 (11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) at Cross Point Hendersonville at 1410 Stop Thirty Road for foster and kinship families to enjoy free activities, food and giveaways while community partners offer resources.  Hendersonville Standard

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee gas prices increased 10 cents last week to an average of $2.80 at the pump; the price is one penny higher than one month ago but remains 34 cents lower than a year ago. AAA spokeswoman Megan Cooper said the rise reflects higher crude oil costs and increased seasonal demand as drivers fill up during spring break.  Hendersonville Standard

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Gallatin Fire Department responded today at Gallatin Marina after a great white shark was found in Old Hickory Lake. Emergency personnel safely removed the shark and will investigate how the saltwater species entered the lake—officials remain uncertain about the cause.  Sumner County Source
