- ➤ The Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 240 is hosting a pancake breakfast and silent auction on Saturday, March 22, from 8-11 a.m. at Saundersville United Methodist Church—710 E. Main—Hendersonville to support veterans. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Meredith is a 7-year-old mixed breed weighing 65 pounds and Abeleine is a 2-year-old domestic short hair weighing 10 pounds. - ➤ In-N-Out Burger will open at the site of a closed gas station at the corner of East Main Street and North Anderson Lane after the Hendersonville Planning Commission approved the project on March 4 — the plan includes updating roadway access and adding quick service restaurant use. - ➤ On Feb. 21, Hendersonville Police arrested two men after a chase from Walmart on 204 N. Anderson Lane when one tried to buy gift cards with stolen credit cards—both face multiple charges and will appear in court on March 12. Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hendersonville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved mid-year budget adjustments on March 11 that include a 10% increase in pay for police officers up to the sergeant level and a 1% raise for all city employees—raising starting pay for uncertified and POST-certified officers to about $59,235 and $62,235 respectively. The board also restored wage increases for lieutenants and commanders and rejected an amendment to remove $27,000 allocated for a study on the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System for public safety staff. - ➤ During the Feb. 24 meeting, the Sumner County Commission overrode Mayor John Isbell's veto of a plan to move the Election Commission office from its current location on Union School Road to the Archives Building's back storage area for cost and historical preservation reasons plus the need to comply with state law. Election officials now plan to use Convenient Vote Centers to manage the growing number of voters and address precinct size limits. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ TDOT started work in February on realigning Walton Ferry Road and Old Shackle Island Road in Hendersonville—this project will widen the roads, add turning lanes, and build a new four‐leg intersection with traffic signals. The work is expected to finish by spring or summer 2027 and will improve safety for drivers. Hendersonville Standard
