COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sumner County Health Committee and TDOT's Nobody Trashes Tennessee Program will host a countywide cleanup on March 28, inviting volunteers from schools, civic clubs, and community organizations to clear trash from roadways, creeks, and riverbanks. Volunteers may register online and bring volunteer hour forms if needed.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hello Spring Market will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Chapel At Three Oaks in Gallatin, where twelve local vendors will offer clothing + home décor, vintage picks, cookies and more for a spring celebration.  Sumner County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Caverns will host a Celtic Celebration underground on Saturday, Mar. 14 featuring live music by Boxing Banjo (with experienced Irish talents) and Irish dancers. Guests will enjoy authentic Celtic cheer and Guinness in a unique setting.  Sumner County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High school teams from Sumner County competed in the Tennessee State Academic Quizbowl Tournament on Feb. 28 at Tennessee Tech. Merrol Hyde Magnet School finished state runner-up with an 11-1 record and Gallatin High School earned third while an All-State Team recognized top performers.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors have released food service scores from Feb 23 to March 10 for Sumner County, covering outlets in Hendersonville and Gallatin. Establishments must display their latest reports for public view (800-293-8228 is the contact for food safety concerns).  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two seniors, Emmeline Smith from JPII and Jakob Murphy from Hendersonville were named Bowlers of the Year as part of the second All-Sumner County bowling team, which features top bowlers from 10 area schools and standout performances in Division I and II tournaments.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Local basketball players Cutter Sisk and Trey Pearson finished as finalists in the Class 4A Mr. Basketball awards at MTSU's Tucker Theatre Tuesday evening. Sisk and Pearson became the first finalists for their schools (Sisk averaged 24 points), with coaches praising their record-setting seasons.  Hendersonville Standard
