- ➤ Cairo Rosenwald School, built in 1922 for African American students and closed in 1959, needs $90,000 in repairs as community leaders rally support to restore it as an educational hub + event venue along Zieglers Fort Road in Sumner County. NewsChannel 5
- ➤ This weekend, five events take place: free kids self-defense seminar (Feb. 22 at Nashville Krav Maga), art opening (Feb. 21 at Monthaven Arts Center), Frozen Night and karaoke (Feb. 20), and a Gears and Beers event (Feb. 22 at TailGate Brewery). Sumner County Source

- ➤ Mark Waldo’s Nashville-based Waldo’s Chicken and Beer chain is expanding fast in Middle Tennessee. The next Green Hills location will open in late June at the former Wendy’s site (the chain plans 35 locations in 15 markets by the end of 2026). Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Nashville Electric Service has enhanced its Critical Referral Program to help customers who rely on life-sustaining medical devices receive priority during power outages. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Playoff basketball will begin shortly in Sumner County as 10 area schools compete in district and region tournaments. The matchups include District 8-1A (at Gordonsville), District 7-2A (at Westmoreland), District 9-3A (at Portland), District 12-4A (at Beech) and Division II-AA Middle Region (at CPA). - ➤ Friendship Christian advanced after a 70-43 win over MTCS (Wednesday) using coach Michael Teeter's unique, matchup-based offense; the senior-led team earns its first Division II-A state tournament berth since 2012 and will face BGA on Friday at PCA at 8:30 p.m. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Hendersonville girls basketball beat Beech 55-45 in the District 7-4A play-in game on Wednesday. The Commandos will face top-seeded Mt. Juliet Golden Bears in Saturday’s semifinals (their win followed a rough stretch in the regular season). Hendersonville Standard
