CULTURE NEWS

  • The Portland Public Library hosted the second annual Sumner County Art Exhibition on Feb. 7 after a delay from Winter Storm Fern, and the artwork will be on display throughout February. Over 40 local artists contributed pieces, including a tribute to the late Lila Brewer.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Creek Wood High School hosted Stewart County last week on Senior Night for boys’ and girls’ basketball games — the girls won 62-55 in overtime while the boys lost 60-64. Senior Abby Baker and teammates showed strong effort in closely contested matchups.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Local flag football teams, including Hendersonville’s Amanda Bourk, reacted Tuesday at Nissan Stadium to TSSAA rule changes and new schedules that will impact state championship play this spring — adjustments include a shorter distance for defensive rushers and a revised punting rule.  Hendersonville Standard
