  • On Jan. 24, a fallen tree damaged a fence and allowed mules to escape, prompting local resident Chad Patton to recover them with community help—his relief was tempered when his 86-year-old father was hospitalized with a heart episode; he is now stable and expected home soon.  Hendersonville Standard

  • DT McCall + Sons, a local family-owned furniture and appliance retailer, has served the community for nearly 150 years with free delivery, in-house service, and trusted brands. The business operates at five locations and invites families to shop for quality products.  Sumner County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • The General Jethro Sumner Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution is launching a series that features Revolutionary War figures with local ties. The first article spotlights John McMurtry—who marched on bitter winter nights along muddy battle roads—to share his story with the community.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Allison Bush leads the Union Elementary Rockin’ Raiders choir, which performs at civic events and makes yearly recording trips at Third Man Records; the group, open to fourth- and fifth-graders, won state titles in 2024 and 2025 and will compete in nationals this year (modeled after her earlier Bills Barkers program).  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hendersonville Parks and Recreation is converting park lights from halogen bulbs to LED for better safety and lower costs. Director Andy Gilley said work on two baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts is expected to finish within the next month.  Hendersonville Standard

  • Safe Place for Animals features two adoptable pets this week; Mollie Mae is a 2-year-old poodle/doodle mix offered for $300 and Ivory is a senior domestic short hair available for $125, with both house-trained, spayed and vaccinated.  Hendersonville Standard
