  • A free chili meal brought neighbors together Sunday afternoon to support utility crews working to restore power. Elevate50 hosted the event from 2 to 4 p.m. at 197 Imperial Blvd with live music by Georgia Owen Music and sponsorship from Heisman Roofing & Construction.  NewsChannel 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local actor Jacob Truax will perform his one-man show as Abraham Lincoln at The Hermitage on Feb. 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in honor of Presidents’ Day and Black History Month, offering an engaging look at the 16th president’s legacy.  Sumner County Source

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reports Tennessee's average regular gas price dropped three cents last week to $2.51, which is one cent lower than a month ago and 29 cents less than a year ago; despite winter weather causing minor localized outages, prices are expected to remain lower in the near term.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tennessee Emergency Management Agency says the Crisis Cleanup hotline is available to help Tennesseans affected by the winter storm by connecting them with volunteer groups for help with fallen trees, drywall, flooding + mold mitigation. Residents in need should call 844-965-1386 as the service remains open until Feb. 13.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Predators rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Islanders 4-3 at UBS Arena on Jan. 31. Roman Josi scored the late winner & Filip Forsberg added two goals to clinch the win before 17,255 fans.  Sumner County Source
  • Barry Trotz, the longtime general manager of the Predators, announced his retirement on Monday at Bridgestone Arena. He will remain as GM until a successor is chosen this summer — then he will work as an advisor through 2026 to 2027.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Monday at Bridgestone Arena, the Predators trailed by four goals but rallied to win 6+5 over the Blues + celebrated outgoing GM Barry Trotz who had announced his retirement early in the game.  Hendersonville Standard
