COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NES crews worked overnight after freezing rain to restore power to 60,000 customers while outages peaked at 230,000. As of this morning, about 175,000 customers remain without power (with 97 broken poles and over 70 circuits out) and nearly 300 lineworkers continue repairs in rotation.  Sumner County Source
  • After a snow storm over the weekend, a large tree in a Hendersonville yard split and fell, nearly striking a home and damaging a fence, prompting Crystal Brown to start cleanup. Residents needing removal help can call the Crisis Cleanup Hotline (844-965-1386) for volunteer assistance.  NewsChannel 5

  • Domino's is offering a $6.99 large two-topping carryout special from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1—available with Hand Tossed, Crunchy Thin, or New York Style crusts to give local football fans an affordable pre-game option.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CEMC crews are restoring power after Sunday's winter storm; by 8:30 p.m. Monday, 13,500 members lacked electricity as repairs advanced in eastern areas of Robertson and Sumner counties. Offices are closed today (Tuesday) due to inclement weather, and customers can report outages via SmartHub or phone.  Hendersonville Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sumner County health inspectors issued perfect 100 scores for food services and school cafeterias in Hendersonville and neighboring towns — a sign of excellent safety standards. The department inspects each location at least twice a year and requires recent reports to be posted publicly.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior wrestlers Lincoln Rich of Station Camp and Andrew Sanders of Gallatin reached their 100-win mark—Rich earned his milestone at Station Camp Invitational in December and Sanders became the first Green Wave wrestler to hit 100 wins last Thursday in a Region 5-AA dual championship.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Liberty Creek won both boys and girls middle school basketball championships on Thursday at Shafer Middle School — True Rolston scored 18 and Jayden Lee added 19 points to secure a sweep against Knox Doss and Ellis.  Hendersonville Standard
