COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Grace Place Ministries is starting construction on five pocket neighborhoods with 43 homes & an education center on New Shackle Island Road to offer supportive housing for single mothers later this year. The project will expand housing assistance and transitional programs as funding allows.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Members of the Hendersonville Rotary Club recently donated $2,000 to local groups (Sumner County Recovery Court and Elevate50 Senior Center) to support community programs, and local hockey player Cam Angus returned home after spending a month in Israel amid conflict.  Hendersonville Standard

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A family used their passion for LEGO to open Bricks & Minifigs on West Main Street, which launched Dec. 13, 2025 after Nic Erickson was laid off in summer 2024. The store has strong local support and plans events including Star Wars Day on May 4 to unite residents.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • The United Women in Faith are hosting the community's 24th annual Snow Ball Dance on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church (217 E Main Street), where the Moonlighters Big Band will perform.  Hendersonville Standard

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Moderate Winter Storm Watch covers parts of Middle Tennessee from this evening through Sunday afternoon, with heavy snow (over 6 inches) and ice (over ½ inch) expected to disrupt travel. Clear morning skies with a high of 44°F and low of 27°F have shifted to a severe forecast.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tennessee Department of Transportation will implement scheduled lane closures affecting several corridors, including planned work on Walton Ferry Road in Hendersonville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 26 — 30 and nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., so drivers should plan accordingly.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Friendship Christian's team took a half-game lead in Division II-A District 4 by defeating Clarksville Academy 53-42 on Thursday. Senior D Boone scored 22 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, and the Commanders will finish their schedule with matchups against USN, Davidson Academy, Ezell-Harding + Nashville Christian.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hendersonville’s girls and boys basketball teams swept Mt. Juliet on Senior Night with scores of 58+44 and 53+19, showcasing strong senior performances in district matchups.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Steven Stamkos led the Predators to a 5-3 comeback win on Jan. 22 at Bridgestone Arena by scoring his 16th hat trick, reacting to a clash with Ottawa’s Shane Pinto + helping his team overcome a 3-0 deficit.  Hendersonville Standard
