COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ms. Cheap’s Penny Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank raised $153,617.02 in 2025 (providing over 614,000 meals) as community donations helped ease food insecurity in Middle Tennessee. The drive marks 17 years of support that totaled $2.4 million for neighbors in need.  Hendersonville Standard

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The new national draw game Millionaire for Life will launch next month among 31 jurisdictions including Tennessee with daily drawings starting Feb. 22 at 10:15 p.m. CT, and players can buy $5 tickets for a chance at $1 million a year for life while supporting local programs.  Sumner County Source

  • A Winter Storm Watch is in effect Friday evening through Sunday in middle Tennessee with lows in the teens; local residents are advised to insulate pipes, open cabinet doors, and let faucets drip to prevent leaks + indoor flooding.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders in Hendersonville approved changes to waive the $27 signage fee and tree bank fee for qualifying nonprofits (such as Grace Place that assists local families) to lower fundraising costs for community events.  NewsChannel 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • AAA urges local drivers to prepare for winter hazards by checking tires, battery, and fluid levels as snow and ice are forecast across the region. Drivers should review the AAA Car Care checklist (available online) to ensure their vehicles are ready for safe winter travel.  Sumner County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Station Camp girls beat Springfield 62-48 Tuesday night in a district game. The team made key halftime adjustments and hit 10 three-pointers in the final quarter (showing strong teamwork) to secure the win.  Hendersonville Standard
  • At the Division II girls bowling championship on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Smyrna Bowling Center, JPII senior Emmeline Smith, who averaged 165, finished as runner-up after losing to Lipscomb Academy's Jessica McClintock.   • Friendship Christian junior Brody West finished third in the Division II boys bowling championship on Wednesday at Smyrna Bowling Center. He donned his special Waffle House sleeve + a gift he asked for from his mom + to add a unique flair to his game.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Predators GM Barry Trotz is in a holding pattern — he may trade a few expiring contracts instead of a major rework as the team prepares for the NHL trade deadline on Friday, Mar. 6 at 2 p.m. CT.  Hendersonville Standard
