  • On Monday, about 100 walkers marched in cold weather during the NAACP Unity Day March and later gathered at Gallatin High School for a program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Hendersonville Standard

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Tennessee rose by five cents last week, bringing the state average to $2.49 per gallon while remaining 31 cents below last year’s rate, AAA said—reporting fuel updates from up to 130,000 stations.  Sumner County Source

  • Gallatin High School student Madeline Bush won $1,000 for her essay Faith Rooted in Old Soil in the Preservation Foundation Society contest, marking the school's second straight win and highlighting its skill in connecting local history to the present.  Sumner County Source

  • In District 7-4A doubleheader action on Tuesday, Green Hill rebounded to a 51-25 win after a slow start while its coach emphasized the team’s strong effort, and Beech secured a 75-52 victory led by Cutter Sisk’s 34 points in a separate contest.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Creek Wood Boys’ Bowling Team clinched a State Tournament berth with a 25-2 win on Saturday—Abe Monosmith scored a 300 game—while Dickson County Lady Cougars advanced after Valor Prep forfeited and will face Mt. Juliet in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Smyrna Bowling Center.  Hendersonville Standard
