ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Jan. 3, a barn in Portland ignited nearly 300 rolls of hay, prompting seven fire departments to use over 85,000 gallons of water as owners helped spread the hay to cool the fire — smoke is still visible but the scene remains under control.  The Tennessean

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today, AAA states Tennessee gas prices average $2.50 per gallon, 7 cents lower than a month ago and 24 cents lower than one year past; experts say steady oil supply & softened demand help keep prices lower.  Sumner County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting January 1, 2026, Tennessee debt resolution providers must get a license from the Tennessee Department of Commerce — a requirement under the new Debt Resolution Services Act — before offering services to consumers, with specific consumer protection and fee rules in place.  Sumner County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Department of Health released Jan. 5 inspection scores for food establishments across Sumner County (including several in Hendersonville) based on routine visits in December. All sites must post their latest reports for public review.  Sumner County Source
  • Local health inspections found perfect scores on January 5 for several establishments in Sumner County, including food services and tattoo studios in Hendersonville. Inspection reports are available at county health offices and posted in-store.  Sumner County Source
  • AAA urges Tennesseans to make road safety a top priority in 2026. The campaign advises drivers to slow down, focus on the road, drive sober and buckle up to help reduce preventable crashes locally.  Sumner County Source
