About this event
Discover our monthly book clubs curated by the Duckbill Team. Our book club picks are planned intentionally to align thematically with the adult Duckbill Bookclub so that adults and children in our community have the potential to discuss what they are both reading about and learning at an age appropriate level.
For Native American Heritage Month, both book clubs will read works by acclaimed Ojibwe author Louise Erdrich. Adult readers will explore The Night Watchman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel inspired by Erdrich’s grandfather and the fight to protect Native sovereignty in the 1950s. Young readers will discover The Birchbark House, a beloved historical novel that follows an Ojibwe girl and her family, offering a rich perspective on Native life, community, and resilience.
Special thanks to Old Hickory Pizza & Pub for sponsoring the Duckbill book clubs by providing delicious pizza. Join our book clubs at no cost, unless specified.
Every month, we explore a book through games, crafts, silly debates, and creative activities. Guided by Duckbill’s friend, local Old Hickory librarian, and passionate book lover, Ms. Katelyn, this group focuses on enjoying fun, friends, and stories. Join us for the excitement! For ages 6-12.
